ServiceNow · Certified Master Architect

Get the most out of your
ServiceNow platform.

I help organisations turn ServiceNow from a tool into an advantage. Architecture that holds up, data you can trust, a platform that earns its keep. Independent, senior, and accountable for the work.

ServiceNow Certified Master Architect badge A ServiceNow Certified Master Architect, the platform's master-level architecture credential. I am currently the only CMA based in Belgium, and one of only a few hundred worldwide.

What I do

A senior advisor across the whole platform

As a Certified Master Architect I advise on designing, governing and implementing ServiceNow end to end, across every product line, from the first strategy session to the platform you run years later. These are the engagements where that depth earns its keep.

01

Platform strategy & enterprise architecture

The advisor's seat: a target architecture for your whole ServiceNow estate, a roadmap your business actually signs up to, and the governance to keep it on course as it grows.

02

CMDB, CSDM & trustworthy service data

The foundation everything else leans on: clean service modelling on CSDM, a CMDB you can actually trust, and the discipline to keep it that way.

03

GRC / IRM & operational resilience

Risk, compliance and resilience built on ServiceNow IRM, designed around the regulation you actually answer to, including DORA and NIS2 for financial services.

04

AI on ServiceNow, done responsibly

Independent guidance on Now Assist and AI Agents: where they create value, where they do not yet, and the controls that keep them inside the lines.

05

Health check, rescue & enablement

An honest read on where your platform stands and a prioritised plan to fix it, plus mentoring that leaves your team more capable than I found it.

How I work

Depth and rigour over noise

  • Work that survives contact with reality. I would rather under-promise and ship something that holds than win the room with a slide. The measure is whether it still works six months later.
  • Independent and senior. You work directly with an architect who has earned the platform's master-level credential, instead of a layer of juniors behind a brand.
  • Decisions you can trace. Every recommendation comes with the reasoning, the trade-offs, and what I would do in your seat.
  • Belgian-based, working worldwide. You get a European architect's rigour wherever your ServiceNow estate lives, across your markets and your timezones.

About

Ben Van Aken

I am a ServiceNow Certified Master Architect based in Belgium, advising organisations worldwide. The CMA is the platform's master-level architecture credential. You have to be selected into the programme, which is open only to seasoned architects with a track record on large, global ServiceNow programmes. In practice it means I help you design, govern and implement ServiceNow across the entire platform rather than one corner of it. I am currently the only Certified Master Architect based in Belgium.

BVACC is my independent consultancy. The point of working with me is simple: you get senior expertise that is accountable for the outcome, explains its reasoning, and is still standing behind the work long after the engagement ends.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Why bring in an independent architect when I already have an implementation partner?

A partner is paid to deliver their statement of work. An independent Master Architect works only for you: reviewing the design, catching expensive mistakes early, and making sure the platform serves your business rather than the project plan. The two roles fit together well, and I often sit alongside a partner instead of replacing them.

What does a Certified Master Architect give me that a regular ServiceNow consultant doesn't?

The Master Architect credential is ServiceNow's highest architecture level, earned by a small number of people with a track record on large, global programmes. In practice it means design decisions that hold up over years and across the whole platform, rather than configuration that only works for today.

Our ServiceNow rollout isn't delivering what we were promised. Can you turn it around?

Often, yes. Most struggling platforms share the same roots: architecture that drifted, data you cannot trust, and governance that never really landed. I start with an honest read of where you are, then give you a prioritised plan that fixes what matters most first.

Is our CMDB actually trustworthy, and how would you fix it if it isn't?

Most CMDBs are less trustworthy than their owners assume. I assess yours against how you actually use it, find where the data and the service model break down, and put the discovery, modelling and governance in place to make it reliable and keep it that way.

Should we be using Now Assist and AI Agents yet, or is it too early?

It depends on where you are. AI on ServiceNow creates real value in some places and is not ready in others. I give you an independent view of where it pays off for you, what it costs, and the controls you need before you switch it on.

What does working with you look like, and how do you hand over so it lasts?

Engagements are scoped to a clear outcome, with the reasoning and trade-offs written down so your team can follow them. I work to leave you more capable than I found you, so the result still stands long after the engagement ends.

Can you work alongside our existing partner and internal team?

Yes, and that is usually how it goes. I complement your partner and your in-house people rather than competing with them, bringing senior architecture oversight that keeps everyone aligned on a design that works.
